Does the WAP Internet work on unlocked UK iPhone 16GB on Vodafone?If i buy a UK 16gb iPhone, and unlock it, will the WAP internet work on it because i heard something about having a EDGE network that Vodafone doesnt support? on Vodafone contract but want an iPhone.

Providing the APNs are all configured properly you should be able to use GPRS, Vodafone doesn’t have an Edge network - they decided to build something for the future called 3G. Quite why you would want to shell out a fortune on a phone that cannot do the basics I don’t know. It’s marketed as having full access to “the internet”, what they fail to mention is it doesn’t have Java - quite an integral part of most professional websites i’m sure you’ll agree. A few more features it’s missing include - No 3G (you don’t want to be downloading stuff over GPRS when there is a really fast alternative for those with modern technology), the camera is only 2megapixel (how 2004), it doesn’t have MMS (picture messaging), no mobile TV, can’t forward a text message, can’t install third party applications, can’t record video. You could go out and get a much better deal on a more functional phone and you wouldn’t be risking your warranty or taking the chance it would be locked again with it’s next update.possibly permanantly.
